Finding work

Which fields have the most remote part-time work

The categories where reduced-hours remote roles are most common, and what each typically asks for.

Updated August 27, 2026

Remote part-time work concentrates in fields where the work divides cleanly into blocks and does not require constant presence.

Customer service and support

The largest single category. Work is shift-based, which makes reduced schedules easy to staff. Weekend and evening coverage is common and often pays a differential. Entry barriers are relatively low.

Administrative and executive support

Calendar management, travel, inbox triage, and project coordination scale down well. Employers usually want overlap with U.S. business hours rather than a fixed number of hours per day.

Bookkeeping and accounting

Monthly close cycles suit part-time schedules. Most listings ask for QuickBooks Online or Xero experience and a couple of years of hands-on work.

Healthcare coordination

Intake, scheduling, prior authorization, and patient follow-up are increasingly remote. Expect a background requirement in medical administration and HIPAA training.

Writing, content, and design

Project-shaped work that maps naturally to a set number of hours. Many of these are contract or freelance rather than employee roles, so check the employment type on the listing.

Education and tutoring

Session-based by nature, concentrated in weekday evenings and weekends. Subject expertise matters more than a formal teaching credential for most tutoring networks.

Technology and data

Smaller in volume but higher paying. Part-time analyst, QA, and documentation roles appear regularly at companies too small to need a full-time hire.
